KBIS 2020

Entering into the Roaring '20s and the next decade of design with three days at the Las Vegas Convention Center was the perfect start to this new chapter! Design and Construction Week kicked off January 21st, 2020 with the classic combination of the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show and the International Builders Show. From the Voices of the Industry educational seminars to seeing the hottest new appliances firsthand with a glass of free champagne in hand, it was an incredible experience!

One of my favorite aspects of the show was watching a wonderful panel of Industry experts come together on the KBISNeXT Stage to discuss what we can expect from the Roaring '20s. An overarching theme that each expert shared was a move toward wellness. Consumers are concerned now, more than ever, about creating a sustainable lifestyle that promotes personal and environmental wellness. Bringing the outdoors in will be something that we continue to see incorporated more throughout the next decade. This will include larger windows and doors, full outdoor kitchens and living rooms in warmer climates, and the use of technology to foster relaxation.

Cambria celebrated their 20th anniversary by unveiling twenty new quartz patterns. My personal favorite of the new patterns is Portrush. Featuring bold navy blue veins and gold flecks, it is an absolute dream for maritime homes.

There was a definite trend toward stylish elegance on the show floor this year. Matte finishes and brushed metallics added a touch of luxury reminiscent of 1920s architecture.

Cafe Appliances presented an option of brushed black, bronze, or copper hardware, and the result is stunning. Whether your appliance preference is matte black, matte white, or stainless, the added detail of a hardware in one of the new finishes is sure to make your appliances a gorgeous focal point in your kitchen.

First Wave Lab by Delta gave an amazing demonstration on their Talk and Tap Faucet, which is compatible with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Home. With a range of customized settings, this revolutionary technology allows you to perform a variety of tasks using only a simple touch or a voice command. Options include dispensing an exact volume of water, temperature control, and specific hand-washing presets.

It was inspiring to see the latest and greatest in kitchen and bath product while walking the show floor with thousands of like-minded Industry professionals. The knowledge gained by attending the seminars and talking with individual vendors is invaluable in an ever-changing field! Hope to see you at KBIS 2021 in Orlando!
